Weekend #8

Hello Saturday, it’s another weekend!

As a fan of crafts, I’m a magnet for mess. I keep putting off the organizing for later and my clean up brigades after every project are often harried attempts of putting everything away in the craft box ~ or worse, plastic bags ~ with a mental note to neaten up later. Or course later happens much, much later, when the messes pile up or when the scissors or paper puncher or staple tacker cannot be retrieved after considerable rummaging.

I’ve been busy this week again. Zach is back in top form after a bad bout with amoeba but we’ve been hard at work catching up on the lessons we’ve missed. Exams are right around the corner so it’s study, study, study for us! Didn’t help much that I had to go away again for two days to another work-related activity ~ *sigh* the sacrifices of being a working parent. So I just got back (now I’ve got the sniffles) and what do you know, I needed to fix something and the tools that would help were in my craft box. And I did tell you about my craft box…. So I finally unearthed the scissors and tape measure. Finding my small carving tool was a bonus too. That and a couple of erasers surfaced from the craft bin!

Now these aren’t just any old erasers. They’re cute and stylish! My sister and I bequeathed a long-time eraser collection to Leslie (sister’s daughter) and the kid’s been adding to it ever since. Since then, friends and family have been contributing to her collection too. Leslie’s dad even brought back some cool erasers from his US trips.

Why erasers? Why they’re fun, cute, colorful… and cheap! They cost anywhere from P5.00 to P15.00. Fancy ones go for around P20.00. Not bad. Perfect collection for a little girl. After all, Leslie is only 10. (She inherited old erasers from us when she was 6).

A lot of them are still in this big bin with a Sophia-proof lid. But some of them are up on display in Leslie’s room. It isn’t very Sophia-proof, though. Probably why some of these erasers ended up in my messy craft box in the first place.

So Thursday and Friday, the kids and I helped arrange the nicer erasers and took down aging ones. Despite Sophia’s rowdiness and Zach and Leslie’s arguments over how (and which of) the erasers should be placed, it was quite the stress reliever. The craft box may still be messy, but at least our eraser collection case is neater. Fair trade off.

Glad to know that your Zach is feeling much better now. Hirap talaga kapag may sakit ang ating mga little ones.

I remember having a small eraser collection, just the cheap one, yung tig P1 lang outside our elementary school. I buy them as a perfume for my pencil case. That was after I got over kisses and it’s “maternity”. Hahaha! Joining Colorful Weekend.
