This week my colleagues and I said goodbye to a friend. She had worked with us as a consultant and trainor for some projects and continued to work even as she got sick and had to undergo treatment. She was sick for years. She got bald. She got better at one time and her hair grew back. But her sickness returned a few years later and she lost all her hair again because of chemo. She lost her battle to cancer a few days ago.

The last time I saw her, she visited our offices sometime in March. Her baldness was hidden under one of her usual flower printed hats, its color and brightness outmatched only by her sunny disposition and big smile. She planted a kiss on everyone, laughingly declaring that it might be the last time we’d all meet. The last time it was.

She wore hats just like this one…

But this is no morbid post. Let’s life in sickness was still a celebration of color. Her flower hats, her big smile, her positive attitude was a constant reminder to everyone of how happiness is still in the little things despite bearing insurmountable physical pain. If you are reading this, stop a while. Think of your near-and-dears and how they color your world. Then think of how you color theirs.

I hope those colors are vivid and bright!
Have a happy colorful weekend, everyone. Link up those colors!
