Colorful Weekend again! Nothing much going the week that passed, but I’m happy to present you with some flowers. Smile?

These were made by womenfolk from the small town of Candoni, Negros Occidental, in the hopes of deriving income from a creative, handmade industry as an alternative to farming. I’ll make a lengthier feature about them and their other crafts in the weeks that follow. The armature is wire and old newspaper shaped into thin strips before it is wrapped with colored plastic. Using some weaving techniques, the colored strips are shaped into petals and put together to make flowers of all sizes. Mix a couple of these with other materials like twigs or some artificial bamboo, they spice up a pretty large jar and a stretch of lonely room space. Pretty rad and very, very colorful!

Your turn! What colors are you digging right now? If you have something colorful to share on your blog, join the party and link up. Your blog post can be anything… photos, artwork, collages, a video, the list is endless!

You just need to…
1. Grab a badge HERE and include it in your colorful weekend post. Don’t want to add a badge? S’kay, a text link back to this post is fine too!
2. Add your entry to the linky tool below. Remember, it’s your post’s URL you’re linking, not your blog/site’s homepage.
3. Visit as many party goers as you can and leave them comments. What’s a party if we don’t socialize? Remember to return comments made on your blog!

The flowers are lovely! And I pray for the business to grow so they can generate more income for the women who participates. Things like these things should be supported to help eliminate poverty in the country.

I started joining by the way… Too bad the linkie’s closed but I’ll make sure I do it earlier next week :)
